I heard that the Thundervs Guardians match was crazy excitement. The Thunder were down 4-1 at half time and came back with 6 goals in the 2nd half to prevail over the Guardians 7-6. The Thunder have Guardians number it seems. LV took a red 15 minutes in and from there it was all down hill for them. Always tough to play a man down in any game. Worst part is LV again is their own worst enemy. Ref originally just wanted to talk to the player who wasn't even involved in the foul, he keeps spouting off and gets a yellow, he than loses it and verbally going crazy, Ref pulls out second yellow and sends player to the showers early. Which BTW how come the showers aren't working at McCartney???

Congrats to spqr who was this week's winner in the NSCL weekly predictions, going an impressive 3/4.
My picks for this up coming week - Howe Sound only adds to the pain of Guardians dramatic loss last weekend. This time though it won't be close as HS humbles Guardians by at least a field goal!
- Thunder vs Azecta almost was my pick for game of the week but instead is a close second. Do the Thunder have what it takes to build on last weeks great confidence builder?? Can LV put duct tape on their mouths and overcame the constant bitching and shooting themselves in the foot. There is talent on Azteca they just need to play the game and not worry about the other stuff. Would like to see Thunder pull out a winning streak but my head is predicting LV in this one.
- Game of the week is Seymour and Nordic the big question though is if this game will be postponed as it's at McCartney?? Nordic has 2 wins in a row while Seymour has lost two very close games to both Howe Sound and Roma. This is a game that could be a turning point for Seymour. If they can beat Nordic look for them to finish third overall. Nordic though has the experience and has been in a lot of tough situations the last few years. I'm going to call a tie in this one!!

Howe Sound 3 Guardians 0 - Howe Sound only beating Seymour by one goal? But then again Roma only won by a goal as well
Thunder 2 Azteca 1 - Thunder get the 2nd big win
Nordic 1 Seymor 1 - Seymour has a hard schedule these 3 games and have done very well. I say this one is a tie
Roma 4 Vikings 1 - Roma keeps rollin

Howe Sound 3 Guardians 1 - Guardians get a late one. But this one is all HS
Thunder 2 Azteca 1 - I think this one might get ugly
Nordic 1 Seymor 2 - Taking Seymour on this one
Roma 4 Vikings 0 - Roma

Well a 3 way tie for the people on their picks this weekend .Tiebreaker IMO has to go to Earl who picked the Thunder to win. Thunder brought some AC/DC to their game today and Thunderstruck LV Azteca 10-2. That is a crazy scoreline and result. Also goes to show that LV is in for a lot of problems this year and it won't surprise me to see them finish dead last. Basil needs to take on more responsibility in helping Serge out, as Basil is a top player and can make a difference. Another disappointment is Seymour as I thought they were ready to battle this year in keeping the results close against powerhouse Howe Sound and contender Roma only to sh*t the bed against Nordic in a beat down defeat.. Gaurdians are great for showing up and competing each game. Vikings with the new team will also compete as they do have some talent out there, just as long as it's not Sammy going in on breakaways for them As for today's game Roma won the postgame match and keep their streak alive of not losing a postgame match in 5 yrs in a bit to the opposing team in having pops after the game. Little sad to see that on a great day like today that both Howe Sound and Gaurdians were gone by halftime of the game after, especially with great weather

Sir M’s Excellent Power Rankings 2013-2014
They are as follows:
1. Columbus FC (VMSL). 2013 BC and Western Canadian Champs, currently 3rd place VMSL. Always a contender for top spot in the rankings.
2. Croatia FC (VMSL). This upstart side has tied Columbus and defeated PCOV and Westside in the last month. An up and coming force in the rankings. Currently 2nd place in VMSL.
3. Poco Castillians (VMSL). The reigning VMSL Masters Premier champs are enjoying a good start to the 2013-2014 season. Lots of firepower going forward and a defender with a 40 inch waistline sporting an excellent headband on the field are a couple of highlight features of this entertaining to watch side. Currently 4th place in VMSL.
4. SFC Temple (FVSL). First place in the FVSL and a very dangerous side.
5. West Van FC (VMSL). THE 2011 BC and Western Canadian Champs are off to a good start in 2013-2014. Currently first place in VMSL.
6. PCOV (VMSL). When this side has everyone in attendance, this side is as good a team as any Masters team in BC. If they can carry this through to the BCs, they will contend for the provincial title.
7. ND SC Rangers (FVSL). This is a team that is a blend of several traditional contenders, and they are certainly contending in the FVSL so far this year.
8. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL). Another in a series of FVSL teams who have names referencing several clubs, this is a side that no one should take lightly.
9. Richmond FC (VMSL). This team gives a lot of very good teams a run for their money so far this year. A loss this weekend drops them in the rankings.
10. Delta Utd (FVSL). Delta United is always a consideration in the rankings, and this year is no different.
11. Westside FC (VMSL). Traditionally a slow starter, the 2012 BC and Western Canadian champions are slowly rounding into form.
12. Howe Sound FC (NSCL). Staff have their (those that have more than one) eyebrows raised at this team’s 4-0-0 start.
13. Romanian FC (VMSL). This side has lots of firepower going forward and are ironically, mainly of Romanian descent.
14. Roma FC (NSCL). Another unbeaten and untied well coached NSCL team.
15. Vancouver United Westside Rangers (VMSL). This side has taken a page out of the FVSL book and has merged 5 or 6 teams to field a team. This has worked, and they are in first place in VMSL Masters Div 1. One staff member (albeit with a few substance abuse issues) has commented “this team could give a Premier team a run for their money”.
16. Nordic (NSCL). Staff predict that this team will make the BCs.
17. CCB Shooting Stars (FVSL). This team replaces the 22nd Avenue Lions for most excellent team name.
18. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL). Sapp have had a bad start but are improving and staff predicts they will make a run for it later in the year. ..and staff should know about making a run for it.
19. Shaheen FC (VMSL). This team is getting used to the Premier division in VMSL Masters. They now wear less clothes while showering after the game.
20. South Delta FC (FVSL). South Delta has made the BCs at some point in previous years, but need to pick things up this year.
Good luck to all teams this week, and welcome back teams to the rankings.
Sir M

Some big games this week, and the weather is supposed to be nice out. My picks are
- LV vs Vikings, look for the Vikings to get there first win of the season in a close one. - Can Seymour stop Thunder's vaunted offence? The Thunder now have the leagues leading goal scorer who is on quite a tear and is one away from reaching double digits after only 5 games into the season. I'm going to pick Seymour in a close one here. This game mind you is going to see what both of these teams are made of.
Game of the week is Howe Sound vs Nordic, did either of these teams eat too much Turkey?? I am going to go with Howe Sound as they are like a Timex watch and they keep on ticking. Nordic usually has a tough time after coming back from a bye weekend! Stats show that after bye's or breaks they are now 2 wins, 7 losses and 1 tie.

A few interesting results this last week, including one or two upsets as well as some furious activity at the top of the table… but enough about Rangerforever’s Thanksgiving dinner issues. It is now time for the second 2013/2014 issue of:
Sir M’s Excellent Power Rankings 2013-2014
1. Columbus FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 1. Columbus gave up a late lead to tie the reigning VMSL champs this last week, but still after having won the Western Canadians have enough points to remain #1 in the rankings… but by the narrowest of margins.
2. West Van FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 5. A couple of late goals out at Ambleside made West Van’s match vs previous #2 Croatia a thriller. An unblemished record thus far in the VMSL. Romania next.
3. Poco Castillians (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 3. The reigning VMSL Masters Premier champs scrapped their way back to tie #1 ranked Columbus, which moved them into 3rd place in VMSL. Away to PCOV next in a Match of the Week.
4. ND SC Rangers (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 7.This team jumps up after defeating league leaders SFC Temple.
5. Croatia FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking:2. Croatia’s loss to West Van drops them in the rankings and in the VMSL standings. Home to Shaheen next and a chance to move up.
6. PCOV (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 6. A tidy win over previous # 9 Richmond keeps this team in sixth spot. While the VMSL scheduler likes to refer to this team as PVOV, they are in fact PCOV. Currently fifth place in the VMSL. Home to Poco next.
7. SFC Temple (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 4. Their first loss of the year, albeit with one of their best players away cavorting in Las Vegas, drops them this week.
8. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 8. Another win in a series of games against a team in their own club helps this team maintain their position. Currently third place in FVSL.
9. Delta Utd (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 10. Up one after an emphatic victory on the weekend. Fourth place in FVSL.
10. Richmond FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 9. A 2-0 loss to PCOV drops this side a spot. This team has an outstanding goalkeeper. Currently 6th in VMSL. Home to Westside next.
11. Westside FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 11. This team could move up or down in the rankings, depending on the rather rare holiday Monday evening fixture tonight.
12. Romanian FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 13. Please see above.
13. Howe Sound FC (NSCL). Last week’s ranking: 12. The NSCL does not schedule games within a few days of statutory holidays, Hallowe’en, political prisoner exchange anniversaries, or Bar Mitzvahs.
14. Roma FC (NSCL). Last week’s ranking:14. Please see above.
15. Vancouver United Westside Rangers (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 15. This side is top of the table in VMSL Div. 1 Masters and got some help as the venerable Bombastic were held to a tie this last weekend.
16. Shaheen FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 19. A move up after a convincing win over Sapperton on the weekend.
17. Nordic (NSCL). Last week’s ranking: 16. Another idle NSCL side this last weekend. Usually competetive.
18. Langley United (or if not them, Langley All Blacks…or both). Last week’s ranking: not ranked. Staff are continuing to use the Rosetta Stone in an effort to translate the FVSL website, but are pretty sure that some team from Langley has at least temporarily punted South Delta FC, who join the CCB Shooting Stars in an exit from this week’s rankings with a convincing victory on the weekend.
19. Westside Originals A (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: not ranked. For the first time in recent mammory, there are three teams from the same club in these rankings. The Originals are but one point adrift of the first place WS Rangers in VMSL Division 1 Masters.
20. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 18. Sapp had another disappointing result this last weekend, and have yet to post a point this year. This week they are at home to Columbus…
That is it for this week. Good luck to all teams, especially to those vying for positions in the rankings.
Happy Thanksgiving.

My pics
Thunder 1 vs Seymour 1 (the thunder run ends) Vikings 2 vs LV Azteca 0 (if the Vikings had a striker they would be dangerous) Howe Sound 2 vs Nordic 0 (if Nordic had some finishing they would challenge for top 2. HS was lucky against a solid Guardians team lady week) Roma 5 vs Guardians 1 (the roman forwards return back after last weeks weak performance)

Well it was a 3 way tie this weekend in picks. No winner or loser to either spqr, begi or myself so congrats guys. Spoke with a few fans who took in the Howe Sound vs Nordic game. Word out there is that Nordic were fortunate to get a tie against HS. Nordic keeps on proving the doubters wrong in that they are and should be one of the contenders in this league. Seymour shut down the Thunders vaunted offence and actually gave them a beat down. Also congrats to the Vikings on picking up there first win of the season.

Sir M’s Excellent Power Rankings 2013-2014
1. Columbus FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 1. Columbus did not play this weekend as their opponent gave up.
2. ND SC Rangers (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 4. This side moves up again due to their win over Langley All Blacks Alumni United Coastal Aldergrove Firefighters , coupled with a lot of ties in the VMSL. Top of FVSL right now.
3. West Van FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 2. A scoreless away tie to a lower ranked side means West Van drops points for the first time this season and drops one spot in these rankings. Home to Richmond next.
4. Poco Castillians (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 3. The reigning VMSL Masters Premier champs scrapped their way to another tie this week, this time against, as the VMSL scheduler likes to call them, PVOV.
5. Croatia FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 5. Croatia dismissed Shaheen on the weekend, and currently sit 3rd in VMSL Masters Premier. Away to Columbus in a SMEPR MOTW this weekend.
6. PCOV (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 6. A home tie against Poco keeps this side at # 6, and in fifth spot in the VMSL. Staff are wondering, if the league keeps referring to them as PVOV, what does the “V” stand for? Away to Westside next.
7. Coastal FC Peace Arch (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 8. Another win, this time against South Delta by three goals, jumps these guys up one spot in the rankings.
8. SFC Temple (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 7. Another loss of points, this time a 1-1 draw vs Delta United, drops this team one spot.
9. Delta Utd (FVSL). Last week’s ranking: 9. This side maintains its ranking after a gutty draw against an explosive SFC Temple side...especially after one of those spicy Tandoori post match BBQs.
10. Westside FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 11. This team is up one spot after defeating Romania and then on a short week battled to a tie against Richmond. Home to PVOV next.
11. Richmond FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 10. A home tie to Westside drops this team one spot. Away to West Van next.
12. Romanian FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 12. Romanian lost on Monday, but then held the first place VMSL WFVC to a scoreless draw at home. Away to Shaheen next.
13. Vancouver United Westside Rangers (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 15. This side is top of the table in VMSL Div. 1 Masters and pounded Bombastic on the weekend. Up against the Flying Horses next, which could be a real shootout in the VMSL Div 1 Masters MOTW.
14. Roma FC (NSCL). Last week’s ranking: 14. Roma had an easy win on the weekend, albeit against a weaker not ranked side. However, they are currently in first place in the NSCL.
15. Westside Originals A (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 19. This team sits in second place in VMSL Masters Division 1 after defeating Westside Rino’s Fury Bulldogs, which should not be confused with Vancouver United Westside Rangers, or Westside Masters “A”. Or any of those unholy Peace Arch consortiums for that matter.
16. Howe Sound FC (NSCL). Last week’s ranking: 13. This NSCL side drops after their tie on the weekend.
17. Nordic (NSCL). Last week’s ranking: 17. This NSCL side maintains its ranking after a tie against a higher ranked side on the weekend.
18. Shaheen FC (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: 16. A move down after a 3-0 loss. Home to Romania next and a chance to move up in what could be a weird game.
19. West Van FC Flying Horses (VMSL). Last week’s ranking: not ranked. The reigning VMSL Div 1 Champs had a strong showing on the weekend, with a 4-0 away win against Alemania. Huge home game this Saturday against whichever of the Westside teams is currently in first place in a MOTW.
20. Langley United (or if not them, Langley All Blacks…or both). Last week’s ranking: 18. A loss to first place ND SC Rangers drops this side two spots. They however maintain a spot in the top 20 of the rankings as they did play.
So that is it for this week. Staff are looking forward to some spirited matches this coming weekend.
Good luck to all teams.
Sir M
