Platini, for a guy that has posted all of 8 times on here, you sure seem to know alot about our teams training habits or lack of them I should add. If you are a person with inside knowledge than you probably already know that we have struggled to field a team never mind getting guys out to practice. But then again with your inside information , you probably already know or heard that this could be Roma's last year of existence! Unless of course you want to step up to the plate and take charge and potentially save the team. Unless of course you are tied to another team in the league. But I don't think this is the case either, as the only strong, solid team in the league right now is HS. Give credit to all 7 other teams , who are at least trying to make an effort! Maybe you can google that phrase up "Trying to make an effort" ;D

True Story: Stuck around for Roma - Azteca match at confed. LV gave he Romans all they could handle until the last 10 minutes or so. Roma goes up 2-1 on a goal by BIG number 5 who proceeds to racially slur the LV guys as he lugs his way back to centre, yellinging something about a "Burrito" to the Azteca team. Nothing like a sore winner. Class act. Another goal by Roma and another "Burrito" comment from big 'ol # 5, among other gems he's throwing out routinely for the kids eams and families to hear. Hearing Mr Mouth, a mother of a girls team warming up asks us what league this is and who the teams playing are. We sheepishly tell her league and teams and she says "This is why my husband stopped playing. My kids shouldn't be here for this."
Nice representation of Roma and the league, 5. Nobody's an angel out there, but when your lack of class and ability to hold your tongue reflects so badly on your team, most of whom are good guys, you might want to think about a muzzle. Yelling insults about ethnicity is something, you of all people, might want to avoid on a sunny September afternoon when there's families around, or in the rain in January when there's no one but you and and your opponent. Your conductor might even agree. You're sad dude....still, good result for Roma FC and great finish, Frank, on your goal. Good effort LV Azteca..

Shafting you may make a good reporter as you are giving everyone a good read here. But like a true Politician you also fail to report on what had been going on all game here. Seeing as you took the time to at least watch 80 minutes of it, as that's when we scored the 2nd goal then how come you didn't report "True Story" how numerous times mamy LV players especially their sweeper made numerous comments about #5 's weight and commented to him many time during the game how he should "eat another burrito or have another lunch" . Finally after 80 minutes and him scoring he got the chance for them to literally eat their own words or should I say burrito ! Along with that the same center back who continually called out a few of Roma's players about how they sucked and had no skill and should go and play in a womens league. Also making comments about how one of our players is on steroids and how his penis is probably the size of a peanut. Fair enough on your comment about the parents coming to prepare after our game and having to hear this sh*t! But I will not sit back and let you or anyone else on here or in this league call Roma out, with out giving or stating all the facts. To be honest I was impressed with LV's new pick ups in terms of talent and especially #14 who I thought was the player of the game. But in saying this LV or any other team needs to know if you are going to dish or instigate stuff , Roma will not back down. For every action their is a reaction. In terms of Shaftings response, yes I am disappointed in some of Roma's comments in the game, as I am a coach who tries to instill in my players to just play our game and let our results do the talking. Unfortunately as anyone who has played the game knows, their is sometimes only so much trash talking or dirty play that one can take before one decides enough is enough!! If their should be any talk about the league, it should be on what's going on with the Thunder and if any one or teams can help them out. As I noticed they have defaulted their second game in a row!

Didn't see it that way.
It's one thing to "not back down" as you say, and let your game do the talking, and another to lower yourself to the level of other classless players. A lot of guys might just let their goals do the talking. But your LB just can't help himself. Dude, you can't be reading something you don't already know here. You gotta back your guy, I know. But his act is an inability to stay cool when the going gets heated, as well as for yelling out deragatory comments at other players like a kid on an elementary school ground. Today just happened to be a day when plenty of folks, old and young, got to experience him. Lovely. If he wants to say something about another guys mother, sister, ethnic background or religion because someone called him a fat guy, so be it. It's not the route most guys would take after going up 1 and then 2 goals. But maybe he feels the need to let everyone on the playground know his pain. "So there!" Dunno.
Tip: You wanna show how offensive and classless you can be? First, don't. But if that's just not at all possible..if you gotta have that little tantrum, then knock yourself out. But share it with only the guy you're pissed at instead of the whole playground...It looks bad on your team - and other players - otherwise. And ya, I know, he's not the only one around. As I said, we're no angels.
I'll leave it there and hopefully move on to game related threads. Good luck this season.

after some time, finally the message board is getting some color and passion. I can't say i disagree with Shafting but at the same time i feel you can't call out this league or game as something its not. Have you been to VMSL games and heard some of the things said at those games? If you haven't i'll spare you the visit to a game and let you know if much worse than you hear on most sundays in our league. Nevertheless i heard plenty of sh*t being spoken to on both sides from the crowd today. Roma had a few chances in the first half which they failed to capitalize on. Johnny from LV was very good and covered tons of ground. Strong in challenges and on the ball and good passing. LV played very good and led 1-0 at the break. with not many balls being feed through Roma needed some luck like the mistake by the LV golie to take the lead. This wasn't a 4-1 game but like they say- winner find a way to win. the next CV Roma game will be good but with that said i agree with conductor that Howe Sound will be the team to beat and is probably the strongest
great to see LV, Guardians and other teams picking up good guys. Would hate to see the Thunder leave ad it sucks seeing teams getting default wins. Nobody wants that...and for that matter Roma - what's up with that?

What's up with the Thunder? Did they drop out of the NSCL? Would be a shame.

Thunder has not dropped out. They have had a few challenges early in the season but remain committed to competing. Hopefully, they will be back on track after the Thanskgiving break.
Howe Sound FC 2 vs Seymour FC 0 Good, physical game on a McCartney grass (which is in excellent shape btw), saw HS go up one on a PK in the first 20 mins. HS controlled most of the first half, and scored their second on nice build-up. Second half different story as Seymour worked hard and had chances. They are a hard working club with some solid players. This game got a bit nasty in the second half.
There were complaints from parents of U-13 girls waiting to play about foul and abusive language from both teams at McCartney as well. Tempers flare obviously, but all managers, teams & players need to remember where they are and who is watching/listening. Let's try to keep it a bit more sportsmanlike.

No doubt Gentleman!
I couldn't imagine taking the family out to the park on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon... and then have to watch and listen to bunch of grown men swearing and yelling at each other, it sounds like both parks on Sunday were embarrassing reflections of our league. Use your heads and keep it classy boys!
... # 5 on Roma, maybe you should listen to "Shafting" and let your size 12 boots do the talking instead of your mouth.
New team "Thunder", sort your sh*t out... people have better things to do with their Sundays than show up for a forfeit.

I'm no angel myself and have been known to rant on occasion, but we can improve our overall impression for sure. As a group we are pretty lax with our language and on occasion we take it more than a bit too far. Insults and threats are getting a little too frequent in a league that really has no business taking itself too seriously. We all love the game and all have to go to work on Monday...a little respect goes a long way.
I hope the Thunder can get back on track asap as I like their addition to the league. If you know of people looking for teams try to recruit. HS is strong cause of a renewal of players under 40 and the recruiting happens year round to source out players. Would hate to see the league lose it's provincial spots or fold due to lack of teams.
Look forward to a weekend off and getting back at it after the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Its wed - here we go
Roma 3 vs CV United 2 - tight one but Roma forwards save the day
Seymour vs Thunder - Default to Seymour. I don't believe Thunder is for real
Nordic 1 vs LV Azteca 2 - LV playing well comes up on top
Howe Sound 4 vs Guardians 0 - HS by 4

My picks are
Howe Sound continues their winning ways with a solid beat down on the Gaurdians!
Seymour gets 3 points over the struggling Thunder, hopefully Thunder can field a team.
Game of the week LV Azteca vs Nordic, Nordic will be in for a battle as LV has picked up some quality players. I will take a tie in this one!! First weekend of rain so could be some messy soccer out there.

Conductor, you jest. MOTW is definitely CV United vs Roma. I know you dont like to predict your own outcomes but at least admit this will be an entertaining tilt.
Thunder has confirmed they will be out playing this Sunday.
Roma 2 vs CV United 2 ( and many yellow cards) Seymour 3 vs Thunder 1 Nordic 2 vs Lynn Valley 1 HSFC 4 vs Guardians 1
Let's watch the language out there fellows. We need to clean it up, especially when young eyes and ears are close by.
