Begi, I think teams looking to go the Provincials are better served by playing tougher opponents week in, week out so they're prepared and don't have their ass handed to them by some VMSL team. As for the field situation, hopefully, there's a managers meeting before the Christmas break to address the gravel dilemma and maybe find an alternative for the second half of the season. Taffy's idea of Friday night games is worth looking into, as it would free up the weekend and also give a couple extra days to recover - from the game and the hangover ;D.

Thanks Cside for clearing all that up! So get Coveside to pay what they owe to WV parks and then we don't need to hear all theses guys on hear complaining about gravel fields. Funny as it doesn't seem to me like all of the posters here are actually at the managers meeting. The NSCl does not owe WV Parks any money. A team in the league, which may or may not be Coveside, may or may not owe WV parks money! Happy now!

This seasons is turning out to be interesting
1-Nordic have done a great job so far and playing the Guardians next week will certainly see them go undefeated in the first 10 games
2-Coveside should take care of Malones to finish off at 8-1-1 with the only loss to NAFC
3-Roma will probably move to 7-2-1 as will NAFC and finish with 22 points. Very strong record for both of these teams
4-Vikings will probably sweak in on 13 points but given the bye week, you never know. Either way i cant see them pushing Nordic, Roma, Coveside, or NAFC for the Top 3 spots
5-Malones have some good talent and can be difficult, but can't see them challenging for a Top 3 finish either
The second half of season will be very difficult. I think Coveside wil be strong but have a feeling Nordic and NAFC will slip up a bit. Roma is a toss up

I heard Friday nights were brought up at the managers meetings but was shot down because the NSCL is a "Sunday league" and teams wouldn't want to play on Fridays.
I think most of the VMSL Masters is played on Friday nights; but who cares, I'm just happy to be palying soccer.

thesub, there is some truth to what you are saying.
I heard Friday nights were brought up at the managers meetings but was shot down because the NSCL is a "Sunday league" and teams wouldn't want to play on Fridays.
Roma wasn't sure if we would be able to field a team this year due to some players defecting over to the VMSL Master's. Their reason was sunday's was hard because of families and guys coaching their kids and what not. Friday's was a better day for them to play. we approached the league seeing if we could have our home games on Fridays and we would pay for the field. It went to a vote and we were told it was a no go. We had to scramble to get players as this IMO is a great league. We are glad to be still in it, butwish we could have kept our team together. Off topic does anyone know the alternate gravel field for Norgate park this weekend?

Friday nights would be awesome!
Hhm?
Alternating weekends off Beers after the game at the Cactus Club Being able to extend the career as most guys over 40 have kids Being able to attract some recent retirees who miss playing Bigger squads for at least half the games
And the biggest reason - happy wife = happy life
- gets you out of the house - weekends are free - and most women have the attitude of "I don't care where you get your appetite along as you eat at home"
hence the visit to the Cactus Club after the game
Maybe the league should be prepared for next season (if this is even a possibility) by having a vote sooner than later

My picks for the week, Nordic keeps up their impressive roll. Looks like Rastaman is so far a man of his words as Nordic stays undefeated. NAFC upends Seymour, then Kenny will head to Seymours to watch NFL sunday football and get drunk! ;D Norvan gets back to winning with a victory over the Warriors Coveside collects another 3 points over Malones, and after the game they should do a money collection so that CSide can pay their late fee to WV Parks and rec!

I've got 4 corner flags (for turf) from last year. If these belong to the league, please contact Conductor and I will see that he gets them. Thanks.

8:00am KO's mustn't agree with Sir M The NSCl does not owe WV Parks any money. A team in the league, which may or may not be Coveside, may or may not owe WV parks money! Happy now! Coveside17 - I am confused. Don't all fees owed to the parks go through the league. ie. When Nordic practiced in West Van a few seasons ago, i thought we paid the league and then the league paid WV Parks (..."may or may not have" ) Maybe I'm wrong, am I missing something? Managers??? Regardless I would hope that if somehow a team in our league did owe the WV parks money that the league would want to get this matter settled for the name of the league and continued field options. Also, Sir M, you wrote "Unfortunately, until the NSCL pays their bills, they are banned from West Vancouver" Are you sure our league owes money. Hopefully this won't affect you guys (playing here and there that is).

Guardians 1 Nordic 3 LV Azteca 0 Roma 3 NAFC 2 vs Seymour 0
Norvan 3 Warriors 0 Coveside 4 Malones2
On a side note, I think all of C-side's empties should be collected and given to WV to cover the outstanding tab - shouldn't take more than a week ;D

Guardians 0 - 2 Nordic What's the difference between a 10-0 game and 2-0 game? The keeper! And the keeper was by far the MVP of yesterday's game. The ball possesion was 80-20 maybe even more. The score should have been 5-0 by the 20th minute, but it was a lean 1-0 at that point. 4 breakaways denied by the goalie in 10 mins. Add to this some shots that NASA can only dream of, 2 cross-bars and a few good defensive tackles and there you have it. Anti-Fan, what did you think? Nice to see you out there
